Miss K | Client Interview | I stopped comparing myself to others | Edmonton Boudoir

Updated: Mar 30, 2021

How old are you... (or if you prefer, who were you listening to at age 14 :)?

I am 21 years old!

What do you do for a living?

Right now I am just doing eyelash extensions.

What/who made you decide to book a boudoir session?

I actually came across a lot of tiktoks of girls doing boudoir sessions. Before then I would see photos of boudoir but didn’t know what it was called. After that I actually wrote down in my notes on my phone “Boudoir” so I wouldn’t forget about it when the time would come to try it out, and then one day I just decided to start looking around for a photographer because I wanted to try something new and get out of my comfort zone.

Did you have any obstacles or fears about boudoir?

Absolutely I did. Iv’e never even been in front of a camera like that other then getting school photos done lol so it was quite the jump. I was overthinking a lot about how I was going to look, and I even told Katie I was so worried about how to make proper face expressions hahah I also bought soooo many outfits because I was worried they might not fit or look right.

Why did you choose me?

So originally I was actually booked in with another photographer, until I realized how expensive she was and it just wasn’t affordable for me. But then my best friend came across Katie and we actually both fell in love with the images she took. We had a consultation over the phone and I just really loved the vibe and energy she gave off right away, she made me so excited for the shoot that I knew I was going to choose her to do the session. I am honestly so glad things worked out they way they did and I can honestly say Katie is so patient when it comes down to every detail as far as choosing outfits, making payments, the thousand questions I had, just literally everything.

Where did you find me?

Instagram

How was the actual session different from what you expected (if at all)?

Walking in there I was very nervous because I honestly didn’t know what to expect at all. I was afraid my nerves were going to make it harder to loosen up. But now that iv’e done the session I can definitely say that with Kaite walking you through every step and telling you how to pose along with everything else, I had so much fun. As soon as I had my makeup and hair done and I put on my first outfit, it brought out so much confidence already, then having Katie there talking you up it was that much better.

What was your favorite part of the entire experience? (makeover, the shoot, seeing images, etc.)

My favourite part about the experience was probably the shoot, then having Katie show me a couple photos as we were taking them, especially the wet set (highly recommend doing). As soon as she would show me how the photos were turning out, I just couldn’t believe that’s how I looked from a different view/other angles. Iv’e only ever seen myself in the mirror of course so it was amazing to see what I looked like in that kind of light.

What is your advice for women interested in such a session?

Honestly, don’t stress about how you’re going to look, losing weight or toning up, those are some of the things I was worrying about even right up until the day. But after going through the experience and realizing that it was so much more than that, I really felt like I accepted myself for everything that I was and I walked out of there with so much more confidence in my own self.

Did anything change about the way you see your own beauty as a result of this session?

Yes of course, I it was amazing to see what I looked like in that kind of light and honestly because of this session I really stopped comparing myself to others.

What made you decide to book a session?

Truthfully at first I wanted to do it just as a fun gift for my boyfriend, but then I realized I wanted to do it for myself as well because I was at such a low point I felt like I needed to do something for myself and just really get out of my comfort zone.

During the shoot, what kinds of thoughts were running through your mind?

“I really should of stretched before this session, I’m gonna hurt tomorrow”

“This pose felt a bit awkward I wonder how this is gonna turn out, oh wait never mind that photo turned out amazing”

“This is so much fun, I should do stuff like this more often”

Is there anything else I could do to make this experience absolutely perfect?

This experience was perfect and I wouldn’t have asked for anything else
