Dear Katie (Part 3 of 3)

Dear Miss P,

The thing about beauty is that it isn’t really beautiful at all. Not by society’s definition anyways. Beauty is represented by strength, intelligence, tenacity, passion, moxie, and resilience. It is shown by scars, tears, stains, laugh lines, stretch marks, and gray hairs. Simply put, beauty is real, messy love.

When I think of the most beautiful woman in the world, I think of my grandmother who is my definition of beauty and much more. Was she ever on the cover of Vogue? Nope. But, she lifted me when I was down. She was a mother, a friend, a confidant. She was the kindest soul I ever knew. Even with her mind consumed by dementia, living in a state of limbo, I can see on her body years of love and that is the most beautiful thing I can imagine. When all is said and done, isn’t that what matters the most? To love and be loved is the greatest gift of all.

I don’t believe in blind positivity. I think it is a sham, a Ponzi scheme. I don’t buy into cheesy pinterest quotes about how “beauty is on the inside.” Because it’s not only on the inside, it’s on the outside as well - displayed for all to see on your so-called imperfect body. Let this be the next cheesy pinterest quote: Beauty is love.

So yes, you are beautiful Miss P. I believed you to be before, and I extra believe you to be now.

Love,

Your Boudoir Photographer

Ps. I can't wait to photograph you!
