What Should I Wear To My Boudoir Photoshoot? (And Other Questions You're Probably Overthinking)

Okay, let's talk about the elephant in the room – or should I say, the lingerie set you've been agonizing over for the past three weeks before your boudoir photoshoot.
"What do I wear? Should I get my nails done? What about shoes? Do I need jewelry? Should I—"
Stop. Take a breath. I'm going to let you in on a little secret that might just blow your mind:
Why What You Wear Matters Less Than You Think
Sexy isn't what you wear. Sexy is authenticity.
Here's the thing – when you show up as your genuine self, when you're comfortable in your own skin, THAT'S when the magic happens. That's when you look absolutely stunning. Not because of some fancy lingerie set (though hey, if that makes you feel amazing, bring it on), but because you're radiating confidence and realness.
Boudoir Photography Isn't a Lingerie Catalogue
I've done sessions where clients wore a t-shirt and nothing else. I've photographed people in ball gags, silk, vintage band tees, strap-ons, leather, lace, and everything in between. And you know what? Those images are just as powerful – sometimes MORE powerful – than the traditional lingerie shots. Because they're real. They're you.
Now, I know what you're thinking. Your brain is probably already spinning, trying to control the one thing it thinks it can control before your session. That's totally normal. Our brains do that when we're nervous – they fixate on details like shoes and accessories and whether your nail polish matches.
The Most Important Question: How Do You Want to Feel?
Empowered? Playful? Sensual? Fierce? Soft? Once you know that, the outfit becomes way less important. Because my job isn't to photograph lingerie – this isn't a catalogue shoot.
My job is to photograph YOU. The real, authentic, beautiful you.
During your consultation, we'll talk through what makes you feel most like yourself. Maybe that's a silky robe. Maybe it's your overalls. Maybe it's nothing at all. There's no right answer except the one that feels right to you.
What About Shoes, Nails, and Accessories?
And about those shoes and accessories you're stressing about? Unless they're meaningful to you or make you feel incredible, we probably won't even use them. The focus is on your face, your body, your energy. Remember, we're not photographing a catalogue.
What to Bring to Your Boudoir Photoshoot
Upon booking, I will send you my Style Guide but the key thing here is to bring whatever makes you feel like the most authentic version of yourself. Bring options if you're not sure - I have legit had clients pack suitcases and laundry baskets because they "didn't know what to bring so I brought everything!" And that's totally fine! We can go through it together.
And trust me – when you show up as yourself, the images practically create themselves.
